Been A Long Time Since I've Blogged And Rolled
It's been so long since I've posted a post that I almost don't remember how. Even Josh Crain is posting now (way to go, buddy!). I figured I better get something up, even if no one will read it. I'll know it's there.
So around the first of the year I bought a hand-held GPS and got hooked on geocaching. Once you make the initial investment in the GPSr (Global Positioning System receiver) which in my case was $179, it's hours and hours of free entertainment after that. Plus, it gets us out of the house and walking. As much as I miss sitting on the couch with a bag of chips watching football, geocaching is a pretty decent substitute.
This past weekend I hid my first two caches in a park by our house, and the first guy to find one of them wound up getting stopped by the police because some old lady in a nearby apartment thought he was doing something "suspicious" in the woods. He explained to the police what geocaching is and what he was up to, and they told him to have a nice day. But what a hoot!
My wife thinks I've become obsessed with it, and she's probably right. But she should be happy. She used to be the one who wanted to go for a walk after work to get some exercise, since she works at a desk. I work in the shop and I'm on my feet all day, so my highest priority (until recently) has been to get off my feet after work. Now, I can't wait to get out there looking for more caches. It's cheap, fun, and it keeps us out of trouble.
