Sledge Hammer!

Just the other day I found out that the 1980's TV show "Sledge Hammer!" is available on DVD. If you don't know him, he's like Dirty Harry gone bad. I don't remember ever laughing so hard and so often at a TV show. I ordered a season DVD set and it should arrive any day now, so I hope I still think it's as funny as I remember it.

Vigilante Cop: "What do you think of capital punishment?"
Sledge: "Too lenient; There's always a chance of reincarnation."

Captain Trunk, at the firing range: "Sledge, you don't need a silencer out here."
Sledge: "This is a loudener."

HEE HEE! I can't wait!

Mondays Suck

I don't wanna go back to work tomorrow. I know I should be thankful to have a job because there are people who don't have a job and all that, but Mondays still suck. One thing that always cheers me up though, is when I hear a Liberal whining about "Do it for the children...FOR THE CHILDREN!!!" Usually what that means is that whatever they want will raise my taxes and has nothing whatsoever to do with the children (because you know how conservatives hate children), but how can you pass up the "children" trump card? You guys crack me up!

Honor Who???

The other day at work, the (maybe 16-year-old) sister of one of my guys came in and told him she needed his keys. When he asked why, she said "Because I'm staying at your apartment until Mom realizes that she can't tell me what to do."

My first thought was, "Oh, to be her dad for just five minutes!"
My next thought was in the form of a prayer for her forgiveness and for her eyes to be opened. Then I started rambling on to God about our eyes as a nation and as the whole human race to be opened to see the cesspool we live in everyday, and contrast it to the purity and beauty that He calls us to live in. Pray for your kids. Pray for our nation and the whole human race. It gets so much better than this!

O Canada, Can We Have Alberta?

This guy at MSN Money has a pretty witty sense of humour, unless you're Canadian. (And maybe even if you are!)

The Cartoon

I'm probably the last person to post on it, but here's my penny's worth:

It was no surprise to see the riots. It was no surprise to see the announcement of the Iranian Holocaust Cartoon Contest. And it won't be any surprise when more people die. But for what? To prove what a great thing freedom is? If anything, I'd say these cartoons make the case for censorship, rather than freedom. Just because you "can" print a cartoon that ticks off millions of people doesn't mean you "should". It reminds me of a 16-year-old kid in his mom's car dumping the clutch at every stoplight. Trying to be cool, but you just look like an idiot. I read on another blog (I lost the link) that we should print cartoons about all the Japanese who vaporized in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, or maybe the kids who have died from leukemia. Always good for a laugh.

The last I saw, 5 people are dead because of protests related to these cartoons. You say the Muslims are over-reacting.
Maybe you're right. But they wouldn't have been there if some pinhead didn't think printing his cartoon was more important than lives. At the risk of sounding like Rodney King, we all live in this world together so we might as well make the most of it and try getting along instead of stoking the fire every day.
